The Vista Ridge Wolves will face off against the Palmer Ridge Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Vista Ridge 12.6, Palmer Ridge 7.1) so any points scored will be well earned.
If Vista Ridge beats Palmer Ridge with 42 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Wolves beat Rampart on Saturday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 42-7. Considering the Wolves have won four matchups by more than 29 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Vista Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Colton Camba led the charge by throwing for 139 yards and a pair of TDs, while also rushing for 62 yards and one score. Another back making a difference was Malachi Arnds, who rushed for 126 yards.
Meanwhile, Palmer Ridge put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Durango with points to spare, taking the game 21-7. The 21-point effort marked the Bears' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Palmer Ridge had a senior duo take command as Jackson Mabe gained 161 total yards and two touchdowns and Cole Harris rushed for 87 yards on only nine carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Palmer Ridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 250 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 152 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Palmer Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Josh Schrock and Jake Coyle.
Palmer Ridge's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Vista Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Vista Ridge has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 241.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Palmer Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 226.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Vista Ridge was dealt a bruising 42-7 defeat at the hands of Palmer Ridge when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Wolves, Avier Elvira (who rushed for 290 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
