Softball Recap: Muir's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Muir made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Poly, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Muir put the hurt on Poly with a sharp 9-1 win on Saturday. Considering the Mustangs have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Jazmin Jaquez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail (Abi) Milton, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Gianna (GiGi) Butler, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Muir was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Muir moved to 8-5 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Poly, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Muir will challenge Western Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Poly, they will take on Calabasas at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
