Pinconning hasn't had much luck against Garber recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Spartans will be playing at home against the Dukes at 10:00 a.m. One thing working in Pinconning's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
On Thursday, Pinconning got the win against Harrison by a conclusive 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Ella Hunter made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Hunter was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
In other batting news, Pinconning got a massive performance out of Layla Foco, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Emily Breza was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Pinconning was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Garber had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Chemics.
Sadie Lapan was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ava Wagner, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Garber's win bumped their record up to 22-6. As for Pinconning, their victory bumped their record up to 20-8-1.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pinconning hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .385. However, it's not like Garber struggles in that department as they've averaged .391. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pinconning came out on top in a nail-biter against Garber in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 8-6. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Dukes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
