In what's become a running theme this season, Venture Academy gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They put the hurt on Atwater with a sharp 66-43 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Venture Academy has posted since December 19, 2023.
Mario Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with five rebounds and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Toriano Woods, Jr., who scored ten points along with four steals.
Even though Stone Ridge Christian has not done well against Millennium recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Stone Ridge Christian blew past Millennium, posting a 85-32 victory at home. Stone Ridge Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 29 points or more this season.
Stone Ridge Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brock Richards, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. Richards continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. Kassius Salazar was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six assists and two steals.
Venture Academy pushed their record up to 18-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Stone Ridge Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Venture Academy strolled past Stone Ridge Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 98-79. The rematch might be a little tougher for Venture Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
