The Columbia Roughnecks lost against the Iowa Colony Pioneers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Columbia took a serious blow against Iowa Colony, falling 58-23. While losing is never fun, Columbia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1226th, while Iowa Colony is ranked 383rd).
Iowa Colony got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Payton Watson out in front who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Kenadie Francis was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Columbia's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Iowa Colony, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Sweeny the next time they take the court. Iowa Colony will host Sweeny at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Columbia will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
