The Open Door Christian Patriots will take on the Rittman Indians in a tournament on Tuesday. Open Door Christian will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Open Door Christian saw some tournament action on Thursday. They put the hurt on Bloomfield with a sharp 3-0 win.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Open Door Christian was: they took every set by at least 15 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-10, 25-8.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Open Door Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ellie Pruitt, who had eight aces and three digs. That's the most aces Pruitt has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Briella Bendik, who had seven digs and six aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Open Door Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 24 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 29 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Rittman got the win against Lake Ridge Academy on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0.
Rittman's got stronger as the match went on, holding Lake Ridge Academy to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-14, 25-6.
Open Door Christian better focus on containing Mackenzie Beltz and Alexis Olinger as the pair were huge in Rittman's win. Beltz had four digs and four aces, while Olinger had eight kills and one block. Beltz has been hot for a while, having also posted 15 or more assists the last 23 times she's played.
Rittman's victory bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Open Door Christian, their win bumped their record up to 19-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Open Door Christian hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 4.4 blocks per game. However, it's not like Rittman struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 blocks. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Open Door Christian beat Rittman 2-0 in their previous matchup back in August of 2019. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
