The Strasburg Indians won against the University Bulldogs last Tuesday with 65 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Strasburg walked away with a 65-56 win over University. The victory was just business as usual for Strasburg, who after five games remain undefeated this season.
Strasburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Austin Velasco, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. Velasco is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Landen Martin was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten assists.
University's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Coehn Nitzel, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists, and Gage Schminke who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. The game was Schminke's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Abeyta, who scored eight points.
Strasburg's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for University, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Strasburg will head out on the road to face off against Eaton at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Eaton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while Strasburg is ranked 24th). As for University, they will be playing at home against Holy Family at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Holy Family will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
