In what's become a running theme this season, the Palm Bay Pirates gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They claimed a resounding 54-20 victory over Cocoa at home. Given Palm Bay's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Cocoa is ranked 148th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palm Bay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaida Civil, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kiara Williams, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Cocoa lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aliana Bass. Despite the final result, she scored five points along with three steals. Bass is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Palm Bay's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-6. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.21 points. As for Cocoa, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palm Bay will take on Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Centennial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Tuesday. As for Cocoa, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Timber Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Timber Creek is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.5 points per game.
