Northwest Whitfield won the last time they faced North Murray and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bruins walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Mountaineers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bruins.

Northwest Whitfield easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-13.

Northwest Whitfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Layla Smith, who had seven digs and two aces. That's the most digs Smith has posted over her last 16 games. Harper Booth also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Northwest Whitfield was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Murray didn't served any aces.

Despite the loss, North Murray still got an impressive performance from Ava Ellis, who had nine digs and one assist.

Northwest Whitfield's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for North Murray, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

After both having extra time off, Northwest Whitfield and LaFayette will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Murray, they will square off against Pickens at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
