First Academy hasn't had much luck against Mount Dora Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
First Academy took a 26-point loss the last time they faced off against Real Life Christian Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Raptors 56-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead First Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rayce Teate, who went 7-for-14 on his way to 18 points and three steals. Those 18 points gave Teate a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aidan Jezowski, who shot 43% from the field to rack up 18 points and five steals.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Mount Dora Christian Academy and Forest Lake Academy, and Mount Dora Christian Academy kept the tradition alive. The Bulldogs breezed past the Panthers to the tune of 84-48 on Monday. Fans of the Bulldogs have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
First Academy better focus on containing DeAndre' Curate and T J McCormick as the pair were huge in Mount Dora Christian Academy's win. Curate went 11-for-21 en route to 25 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals, while McCormick almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine assists. Curate's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Bogen, who posted nine points along with seven boards and five steals.
Mount Dora Christian Academy's record is now 3-0. As for First Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Thursday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: First Academy has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 34.1% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Mount Dora Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've nailed 36.4% of their three-pointers this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
First Academy was dealt a bruising 81-30 defeat at the hands of Mount Dora Christian Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2020. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
