The Moffat Cowboys's game last Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They had just enough and edged Antonito out 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Moffat has posted yet this season.
Leading Moffat to victory were Paige Hammel and Kadence McWilliams. Hammel dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds, while McWilliams dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Hammel is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Destanaya Quintana, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Quintana has scored all season. Luz Elena Parra was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Antonito smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Moffat's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Antonito, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Moffat will be playing at home against Antonito at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Antonito won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Creede at 5:00 p.m. on January 13th.
