NEWINGTON, Conn. -
Newington (Conn.) jumped out to an early lead against
East Hartford (Conn.) and never looked back on the way to a 35-16 victory on Saturday.
The Indians scored seven points in the first quarter. Newington scored on a touchdown pass by
Jake Hedberg to
Andrew Grenier.
After taking the lead on a Hedberg touchdown pass to Grenier in the first quarter, NHS led 22-0 at the half.
Both teams scored six points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at 22 entering the fourth.
The Indians came in allowing an average of 28.8 points per game this season.
The loss was the third in a row for the Hornets.
In a non-conference game next week Newington (3-4) takes on Southington, and East Hartford (2-5) will go up against New Britain also in a non-conference game.
