The Fletcher Senators were the 64-33 winner over the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Fletcher took a hard 56-41 fall against St. Augustine on Tuesday. Fletcher has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Fletcher's loss came despite strong showings from Anthony Vaglienti and Matthew Barata. Vaglienti scored 14 points along with three steals and three blocks, while Barata scored 13 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Perry, who scored two points along with three steals.
Fletcher has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for St. Augustine, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fletcher won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mandarin at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Mandarin has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 874 points over their last 12 contests. As for St. Augustine, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Menendez at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
