MaxPreps/USA Baseball Players of the Week for March 28- April 3, 2016

DURHAM, N.C. -- USA Baseball and MaxPreps announced on Monday, the MaxPreps USA Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week Award winners for the week of March 28, 2016, bringing national recognition to the top-performing high school athletes in the country.

Representing eight national regions, -- Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest and West -- players are selected based upon stats that are submitted to MaxPreps.com by coaches and team administrators. For players to be nominated each week, their coach must enter the athlete's game stats into MaxPreps by Sunday evening. High school coaches may obtain an access code to enter stats for their teams at maxpreps.com/cl.

The winners for MaxPreps USA Baseball Player of the Week Award are as follows:

Great Lakes
Pitcher of the Week: Wyatt Kingery pitched a no-hitter for Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School (Paxton, Ill.) and to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Great Lakes Pitcher of the Week award. Kingery struck out 11 batters and gave up just one walk in seven innings.

Player of the Week: Wayne Lowery hit .909 for Upper Scioto Valley High School (McGuffey, Ohio) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Great Lakes Player of the Week. Lowery went 10-for-11 with 10 RBIs, two doubles, one triple, and scored eight runs.

Mid-Atlantic
Pitcher of the Week: Fred Stewart struck out 10 batters to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Mid-Atlantic Pitcher of the Week. Stewart gave up just one hit in seven innings for Croatan High School (Newport, N.C.).

Player of the Week: Nathan Paisley went 8-for-9 at the plate for Muncy High School (Muncy, Pa.) to receive USA Baseball/MaxPreps Mid-Atlantic Player of the Week honors. Paisley tallied five RBIs and scored four runs.

Midwest
Pitcher of the Week: Dennis Yingling pitched a complete game no-hitter for Lindbergh High School (St. Louis, Mo.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Midwest Pitcher of the Week award. Yingling struck out seven batters in his appearance.

Player of the Week: Colton Woodard hit .875 on the week for Bishop Carroll Catholic High School (Wichita, Kan.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Midwest Player of the Week award. Woodward went 7-for-8 with four runs scored, four RBIs, and 3 doubles.

Northeast
Pitcher of the Week: Joseph LaSorsa threw a no-hitter and struck out 10 batters for Iona Preparatory Upper School (New Rochelle, N.Y.) to earn USA Baseball/MaxPreps Northeast Pitcher of the Week honors. LaSorsa surrendered just one walk in his seven innings pitched.

Player of the Week: Frankie Santiago tallied 10 RBIs and scored nine runs for Franklin High School (Rochester, N.Y.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Northeast Player of the Week award. Santiago hit .833 and picked up four walks.

Northwest
Pitcher of the Week: Drew Santana threw a no-hitter for Hazen High School (Renton, Wash.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Northwest Pitcher of the Week. Santana struck out 17 batters and gave up just one walk in his seven innings pitched.

Player of the Week: Christian Johnson hit .900 with 12 RBIs for The Academy (Westminster, Colo.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Northwest Player of the Week. Johnson hit three doubles, one triple, and one home run.

Southeast
Pitcher of the Week: Chance Harp struck out 23 batters and gave up just one run for White House Heritage High School (White House, Tenn.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Southeast Pitcher of the Week. Harp pitched 10 innings and gave up just two hits in his two victories.

Player of the Week: Chris Giraud hit .900 with 8 RBIs for John Carroll Catholic High School (Birmingham, Ala.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Southeast Player of the Week. Giraud scored five runs and hit two home runs.

Southwest
Pitcher of the Week: Jacob Stark struck out 12 batters for Skyline High School (Mesa, Ariz.) to earn USA Baseball/MaxPreps Southwest Pitcher of the Week honors. Stark gave up just one hit and two walks in his two victories.

Player of the Week: Zachary Gasca hit .875 for Rice Consolidated Independent School (Aldair, Texas) to be named the USA Baseball/Southwest Player of the Week. Gasca scored six runs, hit two doubles, two triples, and two home runs.

West
Pitcher of the Week: Michael Mercado struck out 13 batters for Westview High School (San Diego, Calif.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps West Pitcher of the Week award. Mercado gave up just one hit in seven innings for the victory.

Player of the Week: Sagun Gainey went 9-for-11 with seven RBIs for Tehachapi High School (Tehachapi, Calif.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps West Player of the Week. Gainey hit .818 with two doubles, one triple, and one home run.
