Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lapel walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Taylor Titans with a sharp 19-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Bulldogs have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Zdanowski looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since May 3rd.
At the plate, Delaney Balser and Tatum Harper did most of the damage at the plate: Balser went a perfect 1-for-1 with five RBI and one run, while Harper got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those five RBI gave Balser a new career-high. Elizabeth Connelly also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Lapel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.
Lapel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Taylor, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-20.
Coming up, Lapel will challenge Elwood at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. Taylor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
