The Liberty Lions had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 54-12 victory over Highland at home. Liberty might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won nine matchups by 28 points or more this season.
Navi Bruzon was his usual excellent self, rushing for 67 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 238 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Gardner, who picked up 134 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Liberty's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 6.5 sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Hudson Dunn and Paz St john who racked up four sacks between them.
Despite the loss, Highland still got an impressive performance from Jay Martin, who rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Martin's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards.
The victory (which was Liberty's seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-1. As for Highland, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.
Liberty will stay at home for another week and welcome Centennial at 5:30 p.m. on December 2nd. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Centennial: 12.7, Liberty: 12.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Highland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
