The Foxcroft Academy Ponies will head out on the road to challenge the Ellsworth Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Foxcroft Academy has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Ellsworth will arrive with 17 straight wins.
Foxcroft Academy suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They were the victim of a tough 57-34 loss at the hands of Mount Desert Island. While losing is never fun, Foxcroft Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Mount Desert Island is ranked 31st).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Addison Conklin, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Addie Day was another key contributor, scoring two points along with six steals.
Even though they lost, Foxcroft Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Ellsworth gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 62-29 win over Houlton. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Ellsworth has posted since December 15, 2023.
Foxcroft Academy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Ellsworth, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.
Foxcroft Academy was taken down by Ellsworth 94-20 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Foxcroft Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
