Hannah Wells made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Mia Clemmer was a standout: she fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Emery Doporto, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Coahoma lost a few balls and finished the game with seven home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Lexington came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Indians/Squaws 10-4. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Taylor Akin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maya Bell, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Aubrie Mathews, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
Lexington's win bumped their record up to 27-8. As for Coahoma, their victory bumped their record up to 34-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Coahoma has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Lexington struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
