The Rock Island Rocks will take on the Geneseo Maple Leafs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Saturday, Rock Island was able to grind out a solid win over Hononegah, taking the game 10-5.

Maddie Carroll spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on AJ Lincoln, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella DeJonghe, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Rock Island was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hononegah only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, Geneseo had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Boilermakers 12-10.
Mackenzie Air tossed a big game, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Lillian Brown was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. McKenna Johnson was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Geneseo's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Rock Island, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rock Island hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Geneseo struggles in that department as they've averaged .382. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rock Island was able to grind out a solid win over Geneseo in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 6-3. Will the Rocks repeat their success, or do the Maple Leafs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
