Softball Recap: Nardin Academy Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Nardin Academy barely beat Sacred Heart Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gators blew past the Spartans 16-5 on Friday. With that win, the Gators brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Abigail McGrath spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Nardin Academy got a massive performance out of Madison Scarpace, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Scarpace a new career-high. Gianna Schmidt was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Nardin Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Nardin Academy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Sacred Heart Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Coming up, Nardin Academy will take on Mount Mercy Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sacred Heart Academy, they will challenge Nichols at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
