Even though the North Springs Spartans scored an imposing 63 points on Tuesday, the Douglass Astros still came out on top. Douglass walked away with a 71-63 win over North Springs. Given Douglass' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while North Springs is ranked 323rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Douglass was led to victory by Joshua Mickell and Noah Treadwell. Mickell scored 22 points, while Treadwell scored 18 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The game was Treadwell's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Rj Winegarner was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds.
The victory was the third in a row for Douglass, bringing their record for this year to 8-4. As for North Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Douglass will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sandy Creek at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
