The South Garner Titans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 66-50 win over Cleveland. The win was nothing new for South Garner as they're now sitting on three straight.
South Garner's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tamia Darden led the charge by scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Taylor Moore, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Cleveland saw an underclassman step up: Angelia Dunn dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 36% of Cleveland's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Izzy Sholar was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
South Garner's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Cleveland, they dropped their record down to 9-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
South Garner will challenge Fuquay - Varina at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fuquay - Varina focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Cleveland, they will be playing at home against Clayton at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Clayton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
