Given Somerset Academy - Canyons' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while North Broward Prep is ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Alana Pinnock, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Alanna Fabrini was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was ysamar pimentel, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Pimentel has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ana Abelleira, who scored five points along with 14 rebounds.
Somerset Academy - Canyons' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. As for North Broward Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Somerset Academy - Canyons will be playing at home against Westminster Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Broward Prep won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Suncoast at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th. Suncoast has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 184 points over their last three matchups.
