Desert View is 1-9 against Buena since September of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Jaguars will welcome the Colts at 6:00 p.m.
On Thursday, Desert View came up short against Pueblo and fell 3-1.
Desert View started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-19, 25-14, 25-18.
Meanwhile, Buena posted their closest victory since August 30th on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Pueblo 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Colts.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Buena who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 30-28, 21-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-5.
Desert View better focus on containing Cassandra Comolli and Mariana Bowers as the pair were huge in Buena's win. Comolli had eight digs and three aces, while Bowers had 13 digs and seven aces. That's the most digs Bowers has posted since back in October of 2024. Paige Goodman also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Buena was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 23 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 26 consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Buena's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Desert View, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
