Mills is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Carlmont a 15-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Mills Vikings will host the Carlmont Scots at 4:30 p.m. Mills is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Mills will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against King's Academy on Tuesday. The Vikings came out on top against the Knights by a score of 11-8.
Kalia Woo tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jazzlyn Maske, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sydney Chu, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Carlmont fell victim to Capuchino and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to the Mustangs.
Carlmont's defeat dropped their record down to 3-18-1. As for Mills, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.
Carlmont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mills hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. It's a different story for Carlmont, though, as they've only averaged .242. Will they be able to contain Mills' hitters?
Everything went Mills' way against Carlmont in their previous meeting back in April, as Mills made off with a 17-6 victory. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
