After flying high against the Mescalero Apache Chiefs last Friday, The Estancia Bears came back down to earth. Estancia was dealt a 70-22 loss at the hands of Tularosa on Friday. Estancia was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Tularosa apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Despite the loss, Estancia still got an impressive performance from Joshua Calhoon, who rushed for 263 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Calhoon was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards.
Estancia has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Tularosa, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Estancia will face off against Capitan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Capitan comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Tularosa, they will head out on the road to face off against Mescalero Apache at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mescalero Apache is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
