Basketball Recap: Aurora Central Skates Past Aurora West College Prep Academy with Ease

While Aurora Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They breezed by the Aurora West College Prep Academy Spartans to the tune of 60-14 on Tuesday. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 46 points or more this season.

Aurora Central found their leader in sophomore Andena Torres, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 steals. The dominant performance gave Torres a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamaea Johnson-Gonzales, who posted 12 points along with five boards and three steals.

Aurora Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Aurora Central pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Aurora West College Prep Academy, they are on a 28-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Aurora Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-15 loss against Golden on the 10th. As for Aurora West College Prep Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-10 defeat against Golden View Classical Academy on the 8th.
