The Wildwood Warriors were the 68-64 winner over the Pleasantville Greyhounds when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Wildwood fell to Pleasantville 55-51. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Wildwood came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Pleasantville is ranked 333rd).
Wildwood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brian Cunniff, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Junior Hans, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Wildwood's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Pleasantville, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wildwood on the road again on Thursday and play against Penns Grove at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully Penns Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Pleasantville, they will head out on the road to take on Absegami at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Absegami's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
