After only 12 points in their last matchup, The Garey Vikings made sure to put some points up on the board against the La Puente Warriors on Friday. Garey put the hurt on La Puente with a sharp 42-21 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Garey just coasted through the last quarter.
Miguel Pascual was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 128 yards and four touchdowns. Alex Vaca also helped out as he racked up 142 rushing yards.
La Puente's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ezekeil Zamora, who threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
The win was the fifth in a row for Garey, bringing their record for this year to 5-5. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-3 Ganesha and 6-4 Artesia (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62% over those games). As for La Puente, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garey will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Montclair at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Montclair will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for La Puente, they will head out on the road to face off against Bell Gardens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
