The Edmondson-Westside Red Storm lost against the Poly Engineers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Edmondson-Westside was beaten by Poly 78-29. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Edmondson-Westside in their matchups with Poly: they've now lost five in a row.
Poly's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mickelle Lowry led the charge by scoring 12 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of S. Brown, who scored 11 points.
Edmondson-Westside has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Poly, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-1.
Edmondson-Westside is on the road again on Thursday and plays Benjamin Franklin on February 8th. As for Poly, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Coppin Academy at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. Coppin Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
