The Anthony Wildcats will challenge the Kermit Yellow Jackets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
On Tuesday, Anthony didn't have quite enough to beat Tornillo and fell 5-4.
Anthony saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alfonso Cisneros, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Austin Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kermit, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They blew past Tornillo 14-4 on Friday. With that win, the Yellow Jackets brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
The team relied heavily on Armando Urias, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aaron Rodriguez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Kermit's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Anthony, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Anthony hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Kermit struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Anthony was able to grind out a solid win over Kermit in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, winning 13-10. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Yellow Jackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
