The Ann Sobrato Bulldogs will square off against the Willow Glen Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Ann Sobrato has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Things were looking good for Ann Sobrato after they put the first run on the board last Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Live Oak by a score of 4-3.
Ann Sobrato saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Amato, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Zoe Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Willow Glen put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They beat Leigh by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Morgan Pike spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Katelynn Dilbeck was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Ocumen, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Willow Glen pushed their record up to 14-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Ann Sobrato, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ann Sobrato hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. However, it's not like Willow Glen struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ann Sobrato might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Willow Glen in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
