The Lexington Christian Academy Lions struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Rocky Hill Country Day Mariners had 16 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lexington Christian Academy took a serious blow against the Mariners, falling 77-44. While losing is never fun, Lexington Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 102nd in Massachusetts, while the Mariners are ranked 14th in Rhode Island).
Despite the loss, Lexington Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Nicole Burns, who scored 28 points along with four steals. That was a full 63.6% of Lexington Christian Academy's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Rocky Hill Country Day got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aliona Nikulina out in front who scored 17 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Addison Mahar was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Lexington Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Rocky Hill Country Day, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Lexington Christian Academy will head out on the road to take on the Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rocky Hill Country Day, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
