Basketball Recap: Fideles Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Eli Shadburn and Xander Lipinski

Fideles Christian lost against Johnson Ferry Christian Academy last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Fideles Christian Rangers took a 74-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Johnson Ferry Christian Academy Saints. The Rangers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fideles Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Xander Lipinski, who went 12 for 27 on his way to 31 points and five rebounds, and Eli Shadburn, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. Lipinski's afternoon made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deavors Cromer, who posted two points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Fideles Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Johnson Ferry Christian Academy was led to victory by Parker Henderson and Mason West. Henderson almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards, while West went 6 of 10 on his way to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Cannon, who put up 13 points.

Fideles Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Fideles Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-64 defeat against Lanier Christian Academy on the 10th. As for Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-57 win against Cherokee Christian on the 12th.
