After a string of three wins, the Leake Academy Rebels's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 68-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Rankin Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (60), Leake Academy still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Leake Academy still got an impressive performance from Anna Morgan Young, who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 0 assists. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for her. Sarah Prince was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Leake Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-3. As for East Rankin Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 19-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leake Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Winston Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 16th. Winston Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Leake Academy is ranked sixth). As for East Rankin Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Tri-County Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
