The Encina Bulldogs will take on the Leroy Greene Academy Lions at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Encina will be strutting in after a victory while Leroy Greene Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Encina won the last time they faced Futures, and Yoel Calleja did his part to make sure it happened again. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday for which the team can thank Calleja, who had three digs and one block. He has been hot for a while, having also posted 12 or more assists the last 15 times he's played.
Encina not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Futures between 15 and 18 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-15, 25-18.
Encina's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Youssef Slekh, who had 11 digs and one assist.
Encina couldn't miss and finished the game having scored on 59.1% of their attack attempts. The last time their hitting percentage was this high was in their last nine matches.
Meanwhile, Leroy Greene Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westlake Charter.
The final score came out to 25-7, 25-14, 21-25, 25-22.
Encina will have to contain Diego Martinez as he made an impact in Leroy Greene Academy's last game. He had 19 digs.
Leroy Greene Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Encina, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Encina came out on top in a nail-biter against Leroy Greene Academy when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
