After flying high against the Manual Thunderbolts last Thursday, the Jefferson Academy Jaguars came back down to earth. Jefferson Academy ended up on the wrong side of a tough 54-32 walloping at the hands of Kent Denver on Monday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jefferson Academy in their matchups with Kent Denver: they've now lost three in a row.
Jefferson Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sofia Pathak, who scored ten points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Elsa Nygren, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kent Denver to victory, but perhaps none more so than Austin Duncan, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Anya Peper was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with four steals.
Jefferson Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6. As for Kent Denver, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
Jefferson Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Prospect Ridge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Prospect Ridge Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Saturday. As for Kent Denver, they will head out on the road to take on The Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kent Denver will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something The Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
