If the MaxPreps national rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Mancos. They are packing up and heading on the road for the first time this season. They face off against Del Norte on Friday at 7:00 PM. Mancos are coming into the match hot, having won three in a row.
Mancos faced Sargent in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mancos enjoyed a cozy 38-20 win over Sargent. Junior Breccen Morelli, who rushed for 94 yards and 3 touchdowns, was a major factor in Mancos's success. In fact, with 10 tackles Morelli was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, after having lost a blowout to Rangely in their previous matchup, Del Norte were happy to find some success last Thursday. Del Norte skirted past Dolores Huerta Prep 24-21.
Their wins bumped Del Norte to 1-2 and Mancos to 3-0. The Mancos defense got after the quarterback against Sargent to the tune of 4.0 sacks, so Del Norte's offensive line better have put in some good practice this past week in preparation for the game.
