The Hobart Brickies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Kankakee Valley 53-47. Hobart was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Kougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.
Hobart lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Anthony Hnilo, who scored 20 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Juanta Lewis, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
It was another big night for Camden Webster, who scored 19 points along with three steals for Kankakee Valley. Webster hasn't dropped below 18 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Jones, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Hobart's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Kankakee Valley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.
Hobart is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Valparaiso has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 390 points over their last six games. As for Kankakee Valley, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Slicers at 1:30 p.m. on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Indiana (La Porte is ranked 165th, while the Kougars are ranked 159th).
