Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Pickens Academy Pirates, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 67-35 defeat at the hands of the Generals on Saturday. Pickens Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-18.
Abbeville Christian Academy was led to victory by Jp Sowell and Javarse Turner. Sowell scored 15 points along with seven steals, while Turner dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Turner hasn't dropped below three blocks for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Buckhannon, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Pickens Academy are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7. As for Abbeville Christian Academy, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-7.
Pickens Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Abbeville Christian Academy will take on the Saints at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Patrician Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
