The Union Rockets struggled with assists on Friday (the Wes-Del Warriors had 1900% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Union took a serious blow against Wes-Del, falling 90-33. While losing is never fun, Union can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Wes-Del is ranked 120th).
Despite the defeat, Union had strong showings from Dawson Ogden, who scored 10 points, and Ethan Perry, who scored 7 points. Ogden scored a full 30.3% of Union's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Leading Wes-Del to victory were Jacob Grant and Josiah Love. Grant scored 20 points along with 8 assists, while Love scored 19 points along with 5 steals. The game was Love's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Grayson Mealy was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Union and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Wes-Del, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Union will head out on the road to face off against Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wes-Del will be home for the holidays to greet Wapahani at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
