Slippery Rock not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 9, 2024 (when they won 13-3). They put the hurt on Oil City with a sharp 11-1 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Joslyn Korcok made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Korcok was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Slippery Rock got a big performance out of Christy Frazier, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Grace Greer also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Slippery Rock was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive games.
Slippery Rock's record is now 2-8. As for Jamestown, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Slippery Rock's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Jamestown has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Slippery Rock, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Jamestown keep running through batters, or will the Rockets buck the trend?
Everything went Jamestown's way against Slippery Rock when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Jamestown made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Muskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
