The Muhlenberg County Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the Caldwell County Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Muhlenberg County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Butler County on Friday as they made off with a 16-2 victory. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Bella McCarraher spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Abry Carver was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Joshlynn Noe was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Muhlenberg County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
13 must be Caldwell County's lucky number: they beat Pulaski County with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Maroons. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Caldwell County let Brylee Butts and Harper Holeman run wild. Butts went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Holeman went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Tink Clark, who went 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
The victory got Caldwell County back to even at 13-13. As for Muhlenberg County, their record is now 10-13.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Muhlenberg County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. However, it's not like Caldwell County struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Muhlenberg County beat Caldwell County 9-5 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
