On Monday, the Shadow Ridge Mustangs faced the Faith Lutheran Crusaders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Shadow Ridge walked away with a 54-43 win over Faith Lutheran. The win made it back-to-back wins for Shadow Ridge.
Shadow Ridge found their leader in underclassman Jaslyn Jefferson, who scored 25 points. Another player making a difference was Zh'mya Martin, who scored 14 points.
Faith Lutheran's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raina Forgue, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Herpin, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Shadow Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Faith Lutheran, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shadow Ridge will take on Desert Pines at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Desert Pines is ranked ninth, while Shadow Ridge is ranked 11th). As for Faith Lutheran, they will be playing at home against Las Vegas at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Las Vegas comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
