After both having extra time off, the Appleton East Patriots and the Hortonville Polar Bears will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
On Tuesday, Appleton East didn't have quite enough to beat Neenah and fell 3-2. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Rockets recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
While Appleton East ultimately came up short, they really made Neenah work, particularly in the fourth set. The final score came out to 25-14, 21-25, 21-25, 26-24, 15-12.
Meanwhile, Hortonville came up short against Kaukauna on Tuesday and fell 3-1.
Hortonville couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Kaukauna a tough time in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 31-29, 23-25, 25-20, 25-16.
Appleton East's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Hortonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Appleton East was able to grind out a solid win over Hortonville in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 2-0. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Polar Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
