Softball Recap: Lee County Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Jackson County, Lee County was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Owsley County Owls / Lady Owls with a sharp 17-2 victory. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Owls / Lady Owls recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Preslee Cundiff made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Lee County got a massive performance out of Trinity Price, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Emileigh Warner was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Lee County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lee County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Owsley County, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lee County will face off against Jackson City at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Owsley County, they will challenge Buckhorn at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something the Owls / Lady Owls will no doubt try to take advantage of.
