Basketball Recap: Newman AAA Picks Up 18th Straight Win at Home

Newman AAA entered their tilt with Non Varsity Opponent on Thursday with six consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Non Varsity Opponent 90-52. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 23 points or more this season.

Newman AAA's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reggie Grodin led the charge by going 7-for-8 to rack up 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Grodin has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Morillo, who almost dropped a triple-double with 13 points, 17 boards, and nine assists.

Newman AAA was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now racked up at least 20 assists in six consecutive contests.

Newman AAA's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-7.

Coming up, Newman AAA will venture away from home to challenge Non Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on February 28th.
