Manor New Tech will head out on the road to square off against the Smithville Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Manor New Tech knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Smithville likes a good challenge.
Manor New Tech pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 64-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Taylor.
Meanwhile, Smithville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They took a serious blow against La Grange, falling 74-34. While losing is never fun, Smithville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1569th, while La Grange is ranked 642nd).
Manor New Tech has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season. As for Smithville, they bumped their record down to 3-15 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Manor New Tech against Smithville when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 80-13 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Manor New Tech since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
