Basketball Recap: Anaiah Brown and Mya Harper Secure Win for Desert Pines

Desert Pines's and Arbor View's match on Wednesday was close at halftime, but Desert Pines turned on the heat in the second half with 49 points. The Desert Pines Jaguars were the clear victor by a 77-52 margin over the Arbor View Aggies. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Jaguars also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Leading Desert Pines to victory were Mya Harper and Anaiah Brown. Harper went 8 for 15 on her way to 22 points in addition to six boards and five assists, while Brown went 7 of 10 on her way to 16 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Harper a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Ashanti Stewart, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

The win was the third in a row for Desert Pines, bringing their record for this year to 3-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Arbor View, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

When Desert Pines and Arbor View next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Desert Pines will try to stop Spring Valley's four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Arbor View will try to stop Democracy Prep Agassi Campus' three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
