Softball Recap: Gibbs Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Gibbs had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They blew past the Clinton Dragons 14-7. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 contests by six runs or more this season.

Gibbs got a massive performance out of Malyiah Smith, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Smith has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Shelby Williams, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Gibbs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Gibbs' win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 31-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Clinton, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-12-1.

As of now, neither Gibbs nor the Dragons have any future games scheduled.
